Approach

64m below and 100m from the Pico Boro, in a gulley that runs down from the peak on a bearing of 60 degrees

Entrance

A 4m by 0.5m rift underneath the largest boulder in the gulley Entrance

Description

A 24m entrance pitch, with bolt rebelay under jammed boulders one third of the way down, lands in a chamber with two inlets. These are climbable for 6-8 meters.

The only exit is a 25cm slot in one wall which is the top of the second pitch of 8m. At the bottom a climb over a 1m wall leads to the third pitch of 39m, in a 2m wide rift. 6m down a jammed boulder is passed. A 9m pitch into the terminal chamber follows immediately.

The passage taking water out of this chamber is too tight to negotiate, and a wider fit entered by a 4m climb over the top, also close down At the level of the jammed boulder on the third pitch, it is possible to pendulum onto a rock bridge and rehang the rope on the far side. Another 10m down, a second pendulum onto a ledge leads to a hole at the end of the rift. This is the the top of a 28m pitch into the final chamber. There are no other possible high level routes

Alternative route:

A 25m entrance pitch lands beside an ice cone. Away from the ice cone a slot over a large boulder provides the way on. A drop of 11m, leads to the third pitch of 10m, immediately followed by a 30m pitch landing on a boulder floor. The water sinks here, and reappears at the next pitch of 11m which follows shortly. At the base of this pitch is a narrow meander, which becomes too tight but has a draught at stream level.
