In 2024 the Tresviso Caves Project returned to Tresviso. The Upstream Sump in Cueva del Nacimiento was dived to -88m. The Cueva de la Cabeza de Vaca sumps were dived to a 5th ongoing sump. A throughtrip was established on Andara between Pozo del Hasta Luego and Pozo Castillo.
Tracalet returned to VL-52 on the Vao de Los Lobos

Abstract
The 2024 expedition continued with ongoing exploration in Andara (Eastern Massif) of the Picos de Europa, Northern Spain.
Summary
The main objectives of the 2024 expedition were:
Cueva del Nacimiento
- Far Upstream Sump – last dived in 2012 and left at ongoing flooded passage. An
- attempt to once more dive the sump with support from underground camps and
- dedicated teams,
- Winter Gardens – while supporting the dive a team to look at the old 1970’s
limits of the cave, for possible further exploration, - The Wet Aven – an obvious large inlet entering the cave part way up the Teeth of
Satan ramps.
Cueva de la Marniosa
- Forgott Avens – an unclimbed aven in the Extra Caverns area of the cave,
- Downstream – seek a high level bypass to Sump 1 and complete the outstanding
survey.
T169 Torca del Picu Boru (Flowerpot)
- Rigging – rig the cave ready for a potential dye trace in 2025.
Torca Labarga
- Northern passage – explore possible leads heading north from main cave,
- Terminal Sump – mount a dive on the sump at the bottom of the cave.
Cueva de la Cabeza de Vaca
- Sump 3 onwards – explore and dive the sumps beyond the known limit of the cave.
Results:
Cueva del Nacimiento – sump explored for 465m and down to -88m. Wet Aven, on the way to the Teeth of Satan and the far end of the cave was climbed once more. The previous limit was passed and a small chamber with a possible way on was discovered.
Cueva de la Marniosa – Surveying and derigging jobs were completed early on and, towards the end of the trip, a climbing trip into the Extra Cavern Series pushed a climb over 50m high with an ongoing further aven to climb
Cueva de la Cabeza de Vaca – Thesumps were re-dived and pushed to what the expedition believes is new ground, a 5th sump, over 135m long and -38m depth, with the current limit an ascending shaft
Torca Labarga – The Terminal Sump of Labarga proved to be rather disappointing and possibly not a
sump at all. Although large and deep it would seem just to be a silted lake, with no flow. The most recent survey of Labarga suggested an unexplored continuation above the P23 at the end of the horizontal section of cave. This was explored to around 150m of cave, but evidence of previous exploration was found throughout the ‘new’ passage. It is not currently clear, from any publication, when this exploration occurred.
