1994

Eastern Massif, Picos de Europa, Northern Spain

In 1994 there were two main expeditions, the continuation of the Spanish Interclub collaboration, extending their exploration into the main Andara range. Lancaster University Speleological Society (LUSS) also restarted expeditions to the area, concentrating on leads in the Sierra del a Corta region.

  • SN-3 Torca de Branarredonda (Fallen Bear), way on beyond LUSS exploration found, pushed to -456m
  • SN-2 Torca de la Topinoria
  • S-4 explored to -178m

    Tresviso 1994 (LUSS)

    Abstract

    After a brief interlude of exploration, Lancaster University Speleological Society (LUSS) recommenced the Tresviso expeditions, concentrating on smaller lightweight expeditions, looking for ‘middle entrances’ to Cueva del Nacimiento.

    Summary

    • Exploration around the Sierra del a Corta continued
    • The Cheese Cave explored to -90m to a constriction, with a chamber on the far side. (This later transpired to be the Cueva del Entre Cuetos, explored in 1982 to a similar depth)
